Summary

The Territory Manager will be responsible for an assigned territory in the field of a particular business unit. The Territory Manager is responsible for building relationships in person and selling to customers on a proactive basis.  This position will promote the company’s products through promotional events and resolve customer issues.

 

This position will cover the geographic areas of Tennessee, Kentucky, Northern Alabama, and Northern Mississippi. The candidate must be willing to live in or relocate to the Nashville area (home market and geography can change based on the needs of the business).

 

Reporting Relationships

 

The Territory Manager reports to the Business Unit Manager. This position works directly with an Inside Sales Partner and collaborates with a team of Territory Managers.

 

This position requires extensive travel to customer account sites, company meetings, and events within the US.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Territory Sales and Account Management (50%)

  • Visit assigned accounts, set up and run in-store sales events, set up and run sell through promotions, educate customers on brands and retail programs
  • Collaborate with Inside Sales Partner’s and the Business Unit Manager on sales strategies, account trends, changes within accounts
  • Work with your Inside Sales Partner to fulfill allocations/back orders and/or account management
  • Mine/develop new business in managed territories
  • Build accounts by developing customer relationships, understanding the customer’s purchasing strategies, keeping customers abreast of pertinent information, and providing accounts with a high level of customer service
  • Maintain strong, long-lasting customer relationships with client accounts to establish brand loyalty; partner with customers to understand and fulfill their business needs and objectives
  • Ensure customer satisfaction through direct communication and solicitation of feedback; resolve issues when identified
  • Responsible for managing sales to customer accounts within identified region; identify quality of stock and placement of merchandise; ensure up-to-date information is available

Promotional Activity (20%)

  • Execute specific programs, promotions, and campaigns that support sales strategies
  • Collaborate with the Business Unit Manager to coordinate and execute promotional activities
  • Schedule and participate in in-store selling events, sell through promotions, etc.
  • Participate in trade shows, and special company activities
  • Maintain social media activity current to drive brand awareness
  • Effectively communicate the value proposition of company products through proposals, presentations and events
  • Provide customers with staff training as needed

Account Research (20%)

  • Monitor/study account activity, business activity and account demographics
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and competition activities
  • Meet or exceed sales quotas as determined by the Business Unit Manager and Director of Specialty Retail
  • Track and report all sales activity; provide recommendations to customer based on data analysis
  • Participate in Sales Team Meetings

Reporting (10%)

  • Submit all required paperwork in a timely manner
  • Provide sales data and guides to help accounts meet goals
  • Develop and monitor account sales performance through Power BI
  • Keep record of sales trends, liaise with ISP’s to develop specific sales strategies
  • Other duties as assigned

    • Local knowledge of markets and territory a plus

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing or equivalent preferred
    • Minimum 3 years sales experience with customer relations and portfolio management; cigar industry preferred
    • Traveling sales experience preferred
    • Valid DL required
