The Maintenance Electrician Journeyman is responsible for performing various duties as outlined below and other tasks as directed by the supervisor. This role is crucial for the proper operation of plant equipment and systems. Maintenance Electricians utilize a variety of industry-specific tools, including but not limited to ammeters, voltmeters, thermal scanners, and cable testers, to ensure efficient and safe electrical operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled and emergency work as directed by the supervisor to maintain all assigned equipment and components
  • Set up and test computer systems, including running cables and connecting jacks and plugs
  • Understand and apply blueprints and technical diagrams
  • Document findings, deficiencies, and man-hours on work orders
  • Inspect electrical components such as transformers and circuit breakers
  • Identify and report electrical problems using testing devices
  • Comply with all relevant safety protocols and standards, including OSHA regulations
  • Assist other crafts in accordance with union and management guidelines
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Valid Certified Electrician license
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication skills
  • High school diploma

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree or certificate in a related field
  • Prior experience in facilities maintenance or a related field
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and building codes
  • Ongoing professional development or training in electrical systems and safety protocols
  • Completed 3-4 year apprenticeship program
  • Experience in PLC (Programmable Logic controller)
  • Experience in VFD (Variable Frequency Drivers)
