Primary Purpose:
The Cigar Machine Overhaul Mechanic Apprentice is an entry-level, developmental role designed to build foundational mechanical skills in support of cigar manufacturing equipment overhauls. This position works under the direct guidance of experienced mechanics to learn disassembly, inspection, repair, and reassembly processes while adhering to safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist mechanics with disassembly and reassembly of cigar manufacturing equipment during overhaul activities
- Support inspection of components for wear, damage, or defects under supervision
- Clean, organize, and prepare parts for repair or replacement
- Assist in replacing worn or damaged components as directed
- Learn to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams
- Perform basic preventative maintenance tasks under supervision
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in alignment with 5S standards
- Accurately document work performed, including parts used and maintenance activities
- Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and proper handling of materials
- Observe and learn troubleshooting techniques from experienced mechanics
- Participate in formal and on-the-job training programs
- Support continuous improvement and reliability initiatives
- Perform all other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in a manufacturing, mechanical, or technical environment (internship, vocational training, or entry-level role)
- Enrollment in or completion of a technical, trade, or apprenticeship program
- Basic understanding of hand tools and mechanical systems
